We take great pride in the knowledge and capabilities of our talented team of engineers. And what better way to retain that quality, than by encouraging our engineers to pass their skills on! That’s why we are always on the look out for new apprentices who are keen to join our highly successful Advanced Modern Apprenticeship.
Our apprenticeship programme complies with the national criteria set by the Department of Education and Employment. The apprenticeship includes:
- An integrated programme of vocational training, work based skill development and appropriate vocational education
- Training provided against an agreed training plan and underpinned by a training agreement between the employer, trainee and the supporting LLSC (where appropriate).
- Training to the appropriate NVQ Level
- Trainees enjoy employed status with the company
- The provision of knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations and procedures appropriate to the security industry
- Advanced Modern Apprentices who successfully complete their programme will be issued with a Certificate of Advanced Modern Apprenticeship by SITO, the NTO for the Secure Environment
Here's what a couple of our apprentice engineers think about working here...
“It’s great, I’m learning and doing so much more than I thought I would. Every day’s different; I’ve helped with the installation of a system to assist lifeguards at a swimming pool, a video conferencing system at a court and connected 150 rooms in a university halls of residence to an access control system. We spend one day a week at college and when we report back on the jobs we’ve been involved in, the other apprentice’s can’t believe it.”
Ben Bockett, Apprentice Engineer
“I joined the company straight out of school and it was the best thing I could have done. My colleagues are excellent, everyone is very helpful. They all know my limits, so they will always push me to help me learn the new skills I require to further my progress as a engineer. Having talked to the other guys at college, I definitely feel that I am getting more of a variety of experience. When I tell them about the jobs I have worked on, they are surprised to see how involved I am. I would also say that the job has helped me mature into the adult world as well.”
Dan Boyes, Apprentice Engineer
Four Chris Lewis Fire & Security apprentice installers are celebrating a fantastic result at the security industry's 2009 Apprentice Skills Challenge. All four were placed in the top five in this national competition, a real testament to the quality of training and support that they have received at the company.
