Chris Lewis Fire & Security has been commissioned to replace the fire alarm at Andover War Memorial Hospital in Hampshire. The hospital, managed by Winchester and Eastleigh Healthcare NHS Trust, provides a range of community and hospital services including outpatients, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, day surgery, rehabilitation, and a minor injuries unit.
The hospital’s existing fire alarm is more than 20 years old and has been causing problems for some time. The new L1 fire alarm has been designed in conjunction with the health authority’s onsite engineer and comprises three Advanced Electronics fire panels as well as 147 smoke detectors, six heat detectors and 16 manual call points from the Apollo XP95 range.
Engineering work to replace the fire alarm will run throughout the summer and is due to complete in September 2010. The installation is being done at times to suit the hospital’s busy operations, so the majority of work will be done out of hours. Once complete, the hospital is looking to Chris Lewis Fire & Security to provide ongoing fire alarm maintenance services.
