Oxford City Homes Access Control

Secure door entry system rolled out to Oxford City Council's low-rise communal buildings over three years

Chris Lewis Fire & Security has completed a third year installing a new access control systems to Oxford City Council’s residential buildings. The council-designed door entry system is being rolled out to every low-rise multi-occupancy property in Oxford City Home’s estate and features external security doors and audio intercomms linked to each apartment within the building.

Council tenants are issued with access control fobs to enter the communal areas of their building. Once inside their own flat, they can talk to visitors and grant them access to the building via their own intercom system. The GDX access control and intercom systems are linked back to Oxford City Homes control centre on the outskirts of Oxford via GSM modems, enabling council staff to issue new and replacement door fobs for tenants quickly and easily.

Robert Bruce, Oxford Branch Director at Chris Lewis Fire & Security, commented, “It’s been a privilege to have been the main contractor for this Oxford City Homes door access project for the past three years. The project has gone out to tender each year, and every time we have been selected to carry out the work. I can only put this down to the council's firm belief in our product knowledge and ability to deliver the project on time, on budget and with quality.”
