CCTV for Winchester Park and Ride

Surveillance cameras and integrated help points protect commuters at South Winchester's new Park and Ride

Chris Lewis Fire & Security has completed the installation of an integrated CCTV and help point system at the new South Winchester Park and Ride. The project to install 13 column-mounted PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) cameras was awarded by main contractors Dyer and Butler, following design input from CCTV consultants Perpetuity.

The surveillance system comprises Bosch PTZ cameras mounted on 5m and 8m poles around the site, with power supplies and telemetry controls housed underground to reduce the visual impact of the CCTV equipment. David Ryder, Project Manager for the South Winchester Park and Ride, commented, “We’re really pleased with the way the CCTV system has gone in. The installation ran like clockwork and Chris Lewis Fire & Security clearly understood our requirements for aesthetics and demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of system integration.”

The South Winchester Park and Ride opened in April 2010 and plans for remote monitoring of the CCTV images via a central control room in Winchester will be implemented later in the year. The CCTV system has been integrated with the park and ride’s two help points enabling cameras to be instantly trained on customers who activate the buttons.
