A Chris Lewis Fire & Security customer from Abingdon, near Oxford, is celebrating today as he has finally identified the person responsible for repeatedly discarding dog faeces in the hedge at the front of his property. The man, who prefers to remain nameless, was so incensed by the constant littering that he resorted to using CCTV equipment to capture the perpetrator in action.
Rather surprisingly, the dog mess was always deposited in bags, so the dog’s owner was at least going some way to cleaning up after their pooch. But, understandably for the customer in question, it was simply not far enough!
Chris Lewis Fire & Security installed a Genie digital day/night IR camera in the customer’s front garden connected to a Dedicated Micros DVR in the garage, and, as is legally required for CCTV surveillance in public spaces, posted a warning sign in front of the hedge to acknowledge that CCTV was in use. Within just a couple of days, the offender was caught on camera, dropping a fresh bag of poop right next to the CCTV warning sign.
The CCTV footage has now been passed on to an Environmental Warden at the Vale of the White Horse District Council who is investigating the incident and considering what action to take. Our customer is happy in the knowledge that this should bring an end to this particular annoyance but plans to keep the CCTV system operational just in case.
