The ACPO policy on Police response to monitored security systems 2006 was implemented to combat the number of false alarms the police at called to. 'Alarm confirmation technology' can significantly reduce false alarms and therefore, to apply for Police response, a security system must incorporate alarm confirmation technology.
The British Standard DD243 details how a system may be armed and disarmed to reduce false alarms, and applies to monitored alarms systems installed throughout the UK and is a requirement of the ACPO Policy.
