The British Standard BS8418 was brought into to help minimise the number of false alarms the Police are called to when they are alerted by intruder and CCTV systems. The equivalent Standard for intruder alarm systems is the DD243.
The BS8418 is a Code of Practice regarding the installation and remote monitoring of CCTV systems that are detector-activated, and aims to raise the installation and operating standards of integrated security systems.
